ABOUT US
Gaia and Emiliano are a couple and two complementary souls both in life and in work.
Gaia comes from art schools and the world of restoration, Emiliano from experiences in clothing and fashion. Both are very linked to the cultural roots of their land: Siena, Chianti, and Tuscany and its great tradition of beauty and creativity.
In 2011 they made the decision to share work as well as life: after a year of running an ice cream shop in the Castle of Monteriggioni, the great transformation.
Thus was born “La Vecchia Ghiaccera”: a special place where Gaia and Emiliano offer the best of local crafts and design: ceramics, clothing, leather goods, accessories.
Combining their experiences, they select particular and unique products made by hand and also design and produce – in very limited editions – their collections, exclusive and unique pieces of great charm and simplicity.
You will find them inside the fascinating Monteriggioni Castle, in via 1 ° Maggio n. 9, in a warm and welcoming space, almost like a country house, which has already conquered a highly selected international clientele from all continents, loyal customers who often become real friends.
La Vecchia Ghiaccera is an experience to try to take home an authentic and genuine piece of the charm and wisdom of this land.
PRODUCTS
Ceramics
Our lines of ceramics, glazed and engobed terracotta are produced by Tuscan artisans, some of them are hand-decorated by us in our small workshop.
You will find cups, jugs, bowls, plates but also furnishing and decoration items, all exclusive models and often unique pieces. We always look for the beautiful and the useful in the best artisan tradition of our land.
Accessories
We have selected objects that excite us, which come from many places: we are proud Tuscans, but citizens of the world. You will find objects in wood, metal, glass, old fabrics and basketry.
We truly believe it is very important to live in relaxing and welcoming environments and we want our objects to contribute to your well-being and relaxation.
Clothes
We select and design dresses with soft and comfortable lines in natural materials such as cotton, linen and silk, which recall the style and elegance of our Tuscany.
They are made for us by excellent local artisans, who have become dear friends over time.
To face the cold and winter we have also chosen for you soft and warm cashmere sweaters.
Leather Goods
Our bags and leather accessories, which we partly design, are all produced in Italy by excellent craftsmen with whom we have been collaborating for years in the choice of materials and for research on models.
We only use leathers of national origin, mostly tanned in a natural way.
Accessories
We choose and offer you simple and informal accessories, always handcrafted. Necklaces, earrings, bracelets, scarves and hats, everything you need to give a personal and original imprint to your style, without sacrificing “the elegance of simplicity” which is our creative goal.
